Review: Treby Arms, Devon


We are huge food lovers, but also a huge lover of our little dog, @ladyhollythebeagle (i know, super cute hey!)  – which means when we are holidaying in the beautiful English countryside, Holly comes everywhere with us!

Searching out amazing food can be a challenge when combining having the dog with us, and needing it to be gluten free friendly – we all know Michelin stars are the best places for Michelin stars, but this does not been to break the bank!

The Treby Arms in Devon was set up by Masterchef: The Professionals winner Anton in 2012, and has grown to become a destination pub with a really cool style. Not all Michelin star eateries are white table clothes, stark colours and so formal you feel you cant make any noise – this place has all the charm & character of an old pub, with drinkers in the bar area (where we sat with Holly) adding to the atmosphere.

We noticed the tankards hanging behind the bar, individually named for the locals straight away so we knew we were about to get some fantastic friendly, local service – and immediately felt so relaxed. There were bar snacks written up on a chalk board including a scotch egg, mini pies & scratchings, and a great list of beers & ales, and of course a wide selection of wines both by the glass & the bottle.

Cider glazed pork cheek, celeriac fondue, pancetta & cider foam:

Trebys Gone Bananas: What a spectacular desert! It arrived as a large bowl of foliage from the garden, with dry ice poured over – creating a swampy steamy feeling – the carrot cake itself was served in a flower pot with popping candy, carrot cake & a cheesecake layer! Image from the website:
